Very nice looking freeware file splitter (screenshot). It splits files of any type and size. Does not need to be installed. Just click on hjsplit.exe and the program starts. This program can also handle files which are larger than 10Gb.
HJSplit Editor's Review
We always try to split files by using different compression
applications like Winrar or Winzip which turn out to become slow tools
when managing big files. HJSplit comes as a free and fast alternative to
such operations by splitting any files without compression into any
size you want.
But why do we need to split files? Well, imagine
you want to send a home video through e-mail and the file exceeds the
size limit of the mail service. Here comes HJSplit into action. This
application provides a fast and simple solution: to split the file into
smaller equal junks that are under the limit size. The same goes if you
want to upload a big file to fast sharing services. Just split the
file to your desired length by using either Mbytes or Kbytes as the
measuring unit. In order to rebuild the file, the receiver needs
HJSplit to combine the files.
Besides the fact that is free,
HJSplit is extremely easy to use. Although it doesn't feature a smart
interface, its 4 functions represented by 4 buttons placed on the main
window give the user the easiest way to access them. In order to avoid
risks which might occur while sending data through an unsecure network,
HJSplit gives you the opportunity to compare the received file with
the original either by comparing the size of both files or by comparing
the checksum.
With only 300kb and a single executable, without
the need of any installer, this application is supported by most
operating systems including all kinds of Windows editions and the
classic OSs like Linux, MS DOS and Amiga. For Mac OS X you need a
different file joiner.
Pluses: small and easy to use file splitter supported by most of the operating systems.
Drawbacks / flaws: N/A
In conclusion: HJSplit is the smallest, easiest and fastest file splitter and joiner with a checksum function.
